What were your feelings when you found you were selected for this seasons Under 16s NBL team back in May. DR: I was glad to be part of the team and was looking forward to the season. MOK: I was looking forward to playing a full season and playing with an improving team.
Pre-season matches started in September – you played six and lost six – was it a case of thinking “oh no, here we go again!”? DR: Yes, that thought had crossed my mind a few times but after the first match of the season I was a lot more confident. MOK: TO be honest, yes!
Why has there been such a change in the team, from last season to this season? What’s different? DR: More confidence and more competition for places make people play better knowing that they could not always be in the team. Another key would be that we are working as a team and not as individual. MOK: We are a team now. We have spent a lot of time training together and have gelled much more as a unit. This means we play as a team and know each others strengths and weakness.
What has been the best moment in the first half of the season? DR: Winning the first game of the season. It was such a good feeling. MOK: Winning the first game of the season and then going on a mini winning streak – what was that about?
What has been the worst moment in the first half of the season? DR: Losing to [City Academy] Bristol and Plymouth who, we could have beaten MOK: The game against [City Academy] Bristol. We really should have won.
What is the funniest thing that’s happened this season to you or a team mate? DR: Watching Dan Cohen bring up the ball. He’s such a good point guard. MOK: Rory’s unstoppable run at Bath… he was on fire!
What do you what to achieve in the second half of the season? DR: Playoffs! MOK: We have to end up in a high position in the league.
