Preview - Under 16s versus Torbay Tigers
Dorset Storms Under 16s are back on the road this Saturday as they travel down to Torbay to take on the Tigers. The team will be looking to build on last weeks good performance over City Academy Bristol, which Storm won 72 – 64.
Outstanding team play was the key to last weeks performance, with Storm producing some of their best basketball of the season in quarters one1 and three, despite losing their way in the middle phase of the game. Coach Kemish explains why he was disappointed afterwards:
“We want the players to calculate their success on what they are capable of achieving, not whether we win or lose the match. Quarters one and four we were outstanding, the ball movement was excellent and we played as a team in every department. In that middle part of the game, we took too many outside jump shots and forced too many one-on-one shots.”
Last time Storm played Torbay, they game out victors by 12 points in a fiercely fought contest. Storm will have to make sure that they are fully focused and every player is ready to contribute if they are going to put in another top performance as Kemish alluded to:
“We are lucky in that we have lots of players contributing in different areas. If we can pull all our strengths together then we should be able to put in a competitive performance. “
Storm can expect Torbay to be a tough team to crack on their home court, and their form is good as shown by a recent 14 point victory over Taunton Tigers.
The coaching staff hope to have a full squad to select from for this weekends match following a good week at training.
